Straight From the Snout: Elvis Reports for Koalas

15 August 2025 –

Calling All Educators, Parents & Community Legends: Join the 30-Day Koala Challenge!

G’day legends! It’s me — Elvis, the official ambassador for the Australian Koala Foundation (yep, I’ve got the title to prove it), and your number one furry fan of all things Koala.

Now, between you and me, I may have been chasing some cheeky birds this morning and had a very suspicious stare-down with the chooks like they were dinner… Mum wasn’t too pleased! But hey, I’m still learning.

But I’ve also got something very important to tell you — especially if you work with kids, run a classroom, or just want to be a Koala-saving superstar.

Save the Koala Month is coming this September……and this year, we’re making it the most exciting one yet with a pawsome initiative:

30 Days and 30 Ways to Help Our Favourite Fluffy Friends!

It’s a 30-day challenge filled with fun, hands-on activities designed especially for kids (but grown-ups can totally join in too). Whether you’re a teacher, parent, community leader, or carer — this is your chance to lead the next generation of Koala Heroes.

We’re talking cake stalls, craft days, quizzes, dress-ups, tree planting, and even Koala Karaoke (naturally, I’m pretty good at that — I mean, my name is Elvis).

Here’s the weekly tail-wagging rundown:

Week 1: Awareness & EducationGet the kiddos learning Koala facts, writing letters to local MPs, holding art comps, and running jellybean guessing games (I’ve been banned — too good at sniffing the answer).

Week 2: Helping Koala HomesPlant native trees, head out on a bushwalk, or pop a donation box in your local café or school (we’ll send you one, easy peasy).

Week 3: Keep Koalas SafeHost a PJ party, run a Koala quiz night, and spread the word about keeping pets (even awesome ones like me) leashed near bushland.

Week 4: Koala Heroes in ActionMake crafts from recycled goodies, dress like a Koala, sing your lungs out, and pledge to keep helping our wildlife all year round.

Then, when you’ve nailed all 30 challenges…It’s party time! Throw your own Koala celebration to wrap things up in style.

Why it mattersEvery dollar raised during Save the Koala Month goes straight into protecting wild Koalas and their habitat. You can fundraise as a family, class, daycare, or club — and trust me, every little bit helps.

Easy ways to get involved:
• Collect gold coin donations at school or club events
• Host a cake sale, trivia night or Koala Karaoke
• Set up a donation box in your school, club, or fave café
• Support our Plant a Tree Program
• Adopt a Koala as a group or class
• Shop the Save the Koala Store – free shipping over $150 during STKM

So what do you say, team?Ready to make this the biggest, loudest, fluffiest Save the Koala Month yet?

I’ll be cheering you on with muddy paws and a heart full of Koala love.

Let’s do this!

Elvis

Saving Koalas, one tail wag at a time,

Elvis
