Save The Koala Month this September!
The Australian Koala Foundation (AKF) invites supporters across Australia and around the world to mark their calendars, with Save the Koala Month returning this September .
Held annually from 1–30 September, Save the Koala Month is one of AKF’s most important campaigns. It’s a time to celebrate one of Australia’s most iconic species while taking meaningful action to protect their future in the wild.
Koalas are among the nation’s most loved and recognisable animals; but admiration alone is not enough to secure their survival. Each year, AKF calls on individuals, schools, workplaces and community groups to stand up for Koalas and help protect their habitats.
Get Involved
Fundraising is a key part of Save the Koala Month, and there are countless ways to take part, including:
- Hosting a school event
- Organising a workplace morning tea
- Running a community fundraiser
- Launching an online donation campaign
- Creating your own unique initiative
Every effort, big or small – helps support vital conservation work to keep Koalas in the wild.
Supporters can also get involved by:
- Sharing AKF’s educational resources
- Making a donation
- Shopping from the Save the Koala Shop
- Adopting a Koala
- Supporting the Plant-A-Tree program , where trees are planted at Quinlans, one of AKF’s Environmental Reserves
Key Dates
- Save the Koala Month:1 September – 30 September
- Save the Koala Day:Last Friday in September – this year will be on the 25th September.

Donation Box
Order a donation box for your school, workplace, or a local shop.
This little box can find a home on a shop counter, in your workplace lunchroom, at school events, at special events, or anywhere else you can think of.
The wild Koalas are so grateful for your help.
Note: Unfortunately we are unable to send donation boxes overseas
Fundraising guidelines
What can you do with the money you have raised?
You must send us any funds which you raise in our name.
Usually, money raised is simply sent to us, however, you now have the option to put that money towards any of our programs listed below:
Join our Adopt a Koala
program
Plant a tree
program
Make a donation
to the Australian Koala Foundation
Send your fundraising story to us by post or by email, and you can even include a photo or two!
How to send the money to us:
You can send the fundraising money to us by cheque (check), money order or credit card. If using a credit card, we have a secure online form that can be used.
If you are using your fundraising money to join our Adopt a Koala or Tree Planting programs , don’t hesitate to get in touch with AKF about directing your donation.
