G’day, legends…
It’s your boy Elvis here – Golden Retriever, professional good boy, and proud Koala crusader.
Mum’s heading to the Redlands Koala Formal Information Session next week, 4 Feb and we’re really looking forward to hearing what’s going on for Koalas on the coast.
This is cautiously good news. New independent research by the University of the Sunshine Coast and Griffith University shows there’s been no further decline in Koala numbers on the Redlands Coast since 2018, after more than 20 years of serious losses. That’s a welcome change mate!
But let’s not kid ourselves, this doesn’t mean the problem’s solved. Koala habitat in Redlands is still disappearing, and with only around 350 to 500 Koalas left on the mainland, they’re still at risk.
So we’re heading along to listen, and discuss what needs to happen next to keep Koalas safe where they belong.
Stay kind, stay curious, and always look out for Koalas.
